How much re-organizing can you actually do in 10 minutes? 20 minutes?
A couple of days ago, in my back to school organizing frenzy, I set my timer for 10 minutes and started on this little corner of my office. It had been nagging at me for months but I kept looking away, hoping that if I didn’t see it, it wasn’t actually there. (No prizes for guessing that that particular strategy didn’t really work.)
Anyway, I realized when the timer got to 5 minutes that I was going to need more time, so I set it again. This was mainly because there were another two shelves that needed to be sorted because things from this corner needed to go there.
In the end, it took 20 minutes, but hey…this corner has been in the ‘before’ state for a few months now…so I am reminded that so frequently, it takes just a fraction of the time that you think it will to actually do the job. That puts ‘procrastinator me’ right in my place!
Looking forward to my next Blitz!
