Today is known as Lazarus Saturday in the Orthodox Christian Church (Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox etc.)
It is the day before Palm Sunday which is the beginning of Holy Week. Today celebrates the miracle of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. This shows His divine power and foreshadows His own resurrection at Pascha (Easter) at the end of Holy Week.
It is a Greek tradition to bake mini, sweet loaves of bread called Lazarakia (Lazarus Men) today.
So in the Saturday Spotlight this week is my post from last year all about baking our Lazarakia:
Now it’s YOUR turn…I invite you to share your top post of the week in the comments below so others can see what great things you’re writing about. If you don’t have your own blog, tell us your favourite post on Tangerine Turtle and why.
Here’s How It Works:
- Post a link to your top post this week in the comments.
- If you visit any of the blogs listed, please leave a comment and let them know you’re from Saturday Spotlight on Tangerine Turtle.
- A linkback here is always appreciated, but never required.
This is just a great way to get the blog-love flowing and sharing lots of fabulous stuff!
