It’s been a bit quiet on the blog front this week. Not because I haven’t been working. I have been.
As most of you know, I am a research-hound….if you can Google it, I’ll find it…
In my Google-travels the last few weeks (or maybe even months) a topic that I’ve been learning about is ‘branding yourself’.
‘Poke yourself with a hot iron?’ you say? Noooo…..come back… I’m talking about ‘corporate branding’.
Now, I can just hear you saying, “But Magz, I don’t have a company.” That’s ok.
If you’re a blogger, or online writer, or have any kind of online business, this is for you.
Social media is where it’s at kids…Facebook, Twitter, YouTube…
It’s not enough just to have a blog. If you want people to actually find that blog and read it and love it and come back, then you have to let them know it’s out there! This is where social media comes in.
If you’re already up with the whole social media thing, then the next step is branding yourself. Branding means presenting a uniform, recognizable image on all the platforms that you use. It’s your identity online. This is something I’ve been putting off doing for a while now, but this week, I took the bull by the horns and got my stuff together. I’m pretty proud of myself too, I taught myself to make all of these backgrounds in only one week. Not too shabby!
Here’s the latest:
My Twitter Background
My YouTube Background
My Facebook Landing Page
As you can see, all of my different social media sites now have the same themes and colours. My photo strip is consistent on all three sites which is important so that when people see it for the first time, they’ll instantly recognize the page as mine. Particularly if you are doing business online, providing a brand gives people confidence in your professionalism and they are more likely to trust you as a reputable source.
Although there has been a learning curve for some of the more technical aspects, I have loved designing these backgrounds. I am always happiest when I am creating something; whether it be graphics, a piece of writing, a photograph, or a yummy recipe.
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my latest work. I’ve enjoyed sharing it with you.
If you are interested in branding your sites, email me at Magdalene Creative Studios. You can also message me on my Facebook page or tweet me up on Twitter. I’d be more than happy to have a chat and design a look for you that you’ll love and want to share with everyone. And don’t forget, in celebration of the Royal Wedding all packages are 40% OFF until 29th April, 2011! Don’t miss it!
